Hillside Quarry Development in the Issaquah Highlands

There have been some recent developments concerning the quarry on the hillside in the Issaquah Highlands development within the city of Issaquah. According to a newspaper article appearing in the Issaquah Press on November 4, 2011, the current landowner, Lakeside Industries, Inc. desires to develop the land. Lakeside Industries, Inc. has proposed to turn the site into an "urban village". A type of zoning which is similar to that of the Highlands and the Talus development. A map of the proposed area for development is below.

The 80 acre site is currently zoned for mineral resources, though will need to be re-zoned for any future development. If allowed to develop the land, the city of Issaquah may receive funds which, in turn, could be used for infrastructure projects, transportation or other city needs. Long-term plans by the city have the land becoming homes and businesses in the future. In order to move forward, the development project will need the approval of the Issaquah city council. It is anticipated that the city and the company will seek the publics input, along with other professional guidance from real estate agents and others familiar with growth patterns in the city, before submitting the development plan to a vote.
